Re: Strategy for getting back the collections
I'm still struggling with updating 1979. Nothing spectacular. It just takes time, because we are now 7 in the house to share the connection, and it is a poor country side connection. I work backwards so I did already USA-East back to Austria. Taking a break then will do Germany

Re: Strategy for getting back the collections
As all of you should see, I have started to create race by race for 1986 season, i hope to reach good results and no missing pics, I really hope it! I ve finished to check 1967 season and i miss only British Gp 1980 to end 1980 too; about 2000 I ve checked 9/17 so it needs to work again. I would like to thank all members who with their posts contribute to make this place the best one. Every contribute is Always welcomed!!!

Re: Strategy for getting back the collections
1946 race by race finished I changed format for these early years where our collection is very poor, so I moved for 1 post per race. When our collection will be reach enough, we can expand to the usual 5 post per race/2 race per page.
I plan to do shortly 1947 to 1949 in the same format, then we can move to the more interesting 50's

Re: Strategy for getting back the collections
1947 race by race done. Not a great collection, I'm afraid, but the base is here, and we will expand it with time. I hope the choice of races is correct. As there are few pictures, I chose to stick to a one race-one post rythm. This could change when we update if there is enough pictures to justify it.

Hi guys, I am here
Unfortunately after some time away from the forum I am spending most of the time available updating my own collection (sounds selfish, I know, but ensures theres one more full copy of the F1 forum on someone's HD).
I have so far updated my collection up to 1983. It would be very easy for me to help out in the 1950s, however I have saved world championship races only (and then you get into the question of what qualifies as F1 race in the 50s'). However, If you think it can be of any help please let me know.
Just a few suggestions from my own experience with the old forum, I know we want to get as much material up as possible, however do consider that doing a careful job once ensures you dont need to be coming back to work two or three times on the same subject. What I used to do was actually putting the update date next to every thread (eg 1951 - Updated 26/3/15) and then could take a one month brake and still be able to resume from where I left
Also, take your time to enjoy your work, there will always be things to do - Besides, what are we going to do when one day we wake up and we have a color HD pic for every car ?
BTW, I just realised most of photobucket links are not working anymore (mainly Vasko's) - as I am in the process of updating my collection I actually go through the years page by page. So would you like me to collect all the bad links in one request page and work from there (luckily thumbnails are still visible). I dont want to start asking for reposts in the year by year threads themselves, and then actually people reposting my requests - it will be a mess
Kind regards and a big shout to all the good members of this forum

Re: Strategy for getting back the collections
Thanks for sound advice Pannie. As for 1950's races eligible for being considered as F1, I usually use the list made by statsf1.com It lacks some British events though. I add them when we have pictures. That means that it can happen we have someday to add some race to a year that has already be done. We will manage. It is not impossible to do this.
Maybe we could open a discussion about this point somewhere? Advice from historians like Felix Muelas or Rob Ryder would be a great help.
I have already saved all photobuckets images from Vasko and others. I repost them under postimage whenever I update the race by race. So the help I need is more editors for this. Winners is doing a FANTASTIC job to help me, and others gave some help. But we are here for 3 years and there are still some years to be done, and a lot of years which have not beend updated for a long time.
In any case, my friend Pannie, you had done a fantastic work already at Aerogi, and still contribute here, so feel totally free to give us a hand, or just enjoy what others post. No pressure

Re: Strategy for getting back the collections
Ok if you are happy I can create a template based on stats f1 (2 races per page), would this work for you (ie would it be possible to add these british events after? Let me know
EDIT: I just realised you have already started 1950
