The so called sources were wrong it was Williams, not Lotus, that contacted Gearbox makers for a double rear axe. But the journalist were accostumed to think Chapman to be innovator. And to think Pat Head as copycat. He proved them wrong.
The 6 wheeled Williams was so close to succeed that it was hastily banned.
