Re: DSC F1 Projects & Downloads
Another AIW fix.
This is the last 'loose' file I will be posting for this track, otherwise it will get too diluted over the topic. The next time I post anything for the track will be the complete track, as I feel like this AIW is fixed as best as I can achieve. I want to focus on fixing other problems, which requires 3D and texture work.

Doing a lot of work to add a historic vibe to the track. Not quite take it back to the stone-age, but maybe late-70s to 80s feel to it. The big garages and grandstands were there as placeholders for when I could get something more suitable into BTB, but now just sit there being hard to edit in Zmodeler.
I have made some more progress though, and the last AIW fix seems to have made racing a lot better across all seasons, the 74 cars are top fun, as I discovered today. AI cars seem to be getting down to 1:18s in practice and the race, which is quite good to see:

Re: DSC F1 Projects & Downloads
The white cliffs of... DSC Motorsports Park? Changed from the poo-coloured cliffs before, these add a little more variation and depth to the cliff-face. Also, Sutton and the surrounding area is mainly on chalk flats, so this is accurate to the area the track is set in.) In addition, the track edges have received a proper texture that compliments the main track.
The pitlane is now full of '79 trucks and trailers, with some modern coaches to make up the basic hospitality areas. With a DSC Motorsports truck snuck on the end.
The main straight has seen a lot of work. On the left is the 'new' old grandstand. we also have a re-textured 'Race Control', essentially updated with relevant sponsors, and including the garage next door to my house. Along the main straight we can see how raised up the stand is, in order to give the paying public a better view of the grid. And just before Turn 1 is the Bridge, adorned with Castrol logos, incase you didn't guess that this was a DSC-owned track.
Finally, the pitlane is refreshed. There's space for 15 teams in total, with 3 garages per team for a total of 45 potential cars. And each team has it's own PBOXxx.bmp texture, although the '77 mod doesn't seem to provide many/any of it's own. Named appropriately however, and up to 15 teams will have their own decorated garage.
Also, in the spirit of community, there's something else i've been thinking of - this track is all very well and good, but there's no names associated with any of the corners or straights. I would love to hear suggestions from people, for appropriate corner/straight names. I'll provide a track map tomorrow, but for now a quick list:
Start/Finish Straight (will probably stay as S/F Straight)
Turn 1 (Right-hander)
Turn 2 (Slight left-hander)
Turn 3 (First banked section)
Turn 4 (Left after banked)
Straight 2
Hairpin
Straight 3
Turn 5 (Left-hander in front of chalk cliffs)
Chicane (which is basically straight-lined)
Turn 6 (long left-hander)
Turn 7 (Right-hander)
Turn 8 (second Banked section)
Turn 9 (left-hander leading onto S/F)

Re: DSC F1 Projects & Downloads
I would be fully honoured and satisfied if a place of the track was named after François Cevert. And my happiness would be complete if another was named after Bob Bondurant.

Hmmmm let you choose between Clark (if you want to stay on Earth 1) and McLeod (if you enter into Wookey's world) for turn 5.

Re: DSC F1 Projects & Downloads
Bonnier and Clark are accepted. McLeod may be used elsewhere, but right now there's a pattern of the names being rooted in reality, with great drivers being suggested so far (Not saying McLeod is subpar!)
To that end, T6 has now gained the name Hill, after Graham, and also... because it's uphill. <_<

Re: DSC F1 Projects & Downloads
A few more names gathered, maybe half full at the moment.
A lot of work was carried out to reduce the filesize. About 20MB was cut from the textures by downsizing, cropping and re-using textures, so the new track download will be less painful for people, and the track runs a little smoother too.
As a result, it's for the best if people remove the track from their circuits folder entirely before installing the 'Release' version.
