1896 Races
Hi everyone, this is my first post on this amazing forum! I used to post old racing pics (from the 1890s) on the old Aerogi forum under the name acaffi.
Here's just a little taster here of some of the stuff I have. Most forums seem only to be interested in the World Championship years from 1950, but if you guys are keen, I have lots more to post from 1878 to 1949!

1896.09.20 Elinatoires Motocyclettes de l'ACF - Paris-Mantes (France)
The ACF (Automobile Club de France) decided to hold an elimination contest for quadricycles, tricycles and motocyclettes - with only the top finishers gaining entry to the big race a few days later.

In the early days, cars, tricycles and motorcycles used to race together! The ACF (Automobile Club de France) meetings were the equivalent of the modern day Grand Prix meetings and were the biggest events of the year.

Was easy for me, born and raised in Marseilles, and having lived in Paris, nearby Versailles for decades
