As the Tyrrell 009 was said to be an exact copy of the Lotus 79 I had to build one.

I had the plans of converting a Hasegawa Lotus 79 but it ended up as the Rebaque car

So I bought the Studio 27 resin kit even though I don't like building resin.

My feelings for resin kits didn't improve when I noticed that the front was bent to the right making the front wings angled wrong.

Luckily it only took one cut  to fix it. The material removed with the saw was enough to make the front straight when gluing the cut.

I wasn't to keen about the 1979 style of fins on the sides so I decided to back date the car.

I removed the offending parts and filled it with plastic card and built some plates out of thin brass.

I then added a driver from Tamiya but had to convert the Helmet for J.P. Jarier.

maybe it may seem a trivial question ... Neutral
I know that this is a hobby dedicated in free time, but how long does it take to make these wonders... Question

from Lotus 79 to Tyrrell 009 : well done ! When I stumbled on the Tyrrell, in the winter 79 at Le Castellet, I thought that Ken Tyrrell had bought Lotuses to run them, just like he did 9 years before with March. At the beginning, there were even fewer differences !

The Tyrrell 008 and 009 took about 2,5 weeks each but they were simple builds with almost no extra details like cables and tubes. The Lotus 78 took almost 6 month to finish

thanks for the reply, it is impressive the time it takes to build a model like the Lotus 78 Shocked , but for the hobbies.... Wink

Beautiful Tyrrell, and the great Jean Pierre.
When Mr Ken showed the 009, everyone said it was a copy of the Lotus 79.
Hugs!
