Re: 1978 Montreal
Hi Cristian,
This is the version used from 1979-1986. In 1978 they must have used another version of the circuit. Please see above! Thanks for your comment!!!

Seems is the same track, and that the map is wrong...

Re: 1978 Montreal
Wait, no. Seems... true!
1978 Montreal is an identical layout from 1979-1986, but with a tighter first chicane! Curves 13 and 14 are slightly different too.
That means F1C hasn't all Formula One tracks yet. I thought with Silverstone 194-96 finished, everything is done.
Only Montreal 1978 is left. I think Luigi could do it in a week. Maybe even less. But I don't know if he will be really interested, especially when I asked him for Zandvoort and Hanoi.
Maybe another modder could do the job. I sadly don't know how and who.
Me? Would like to learn how. Videotutorial about someone doing it is the best path.

Re: 1978 Montreal
something is strange though. we mentioned the 2 modifications comparing the layouts in 1978 and 1979:
Casino chicane
Turn 13 (today's Turn 6)
Both corners have been changed in 1979, however, Turn 13 remained the same until today. I compared that corner with Montreal in the 1990s or after 2000, and that corner looks fine for me. So Turn 13 has been a one-off turn in 1978, and then from 1979 onwards up to this day it is correct, and in the game too.
The only deviation between the version we have and the real one in 1978 is the CASINO CHICANE.
In 1978 it has been a slow left-right turn, however, from 1979 it turned out to be a fast left-right chicane.

Re: 1978 Montreal
Hi Cristian , as I already said to Peter ( in PM ) "I convert before the track in rfactor and then I use rfactor aiw editor:
https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/tutorial-beginners-guide-to-making-rfactor-aiw.5507/
So, after the fix, I keep the new aiw for the F1 challenge track.
That's all...
Regards."
So for the video tutorial, "goole search" is a good friend..

While for 3d track modification, any 3d software is good ( zmodeler, 3d max, blender, ecc), togheter at the 3d simed too.

Re: 1978 Montreal
thank you too Peter ...
Anyway if for F1C community it is so important to make this variation of the chicane ... the variation will be made...

Re: 1978 Montreal
those bloody chicanes... Usually during the years they made chicanes quite often, vital for safety to be improved. and they were right, however, in my opinion some tracks are less fun to drive than before...

Re: 1978 Montreal
Thank you, Luigi! I am not 100% sure about Turn 13, but I think it is right in later versions. What do you think?
