VSM IndyCar 2016-2017 V2
The second version of our greatest hit, the VSM DW12 IndyCar mod arrives at its
second version, now with the seasons of 2016 and 2017. The changes from Version
v1 to v2 among others are:

-3Ds optimized (using less PC memory)-All skins re-saved with a reworked shadow
mask -Added backfire effects-Added carbon detail in all AJ Foyt skins and
reworked carbon effect in ALL skins-Atualized helmets and driver suits by
PA-Popov and Stex1973-Changed yellow tone from Hunter-Reay car's (little bit
more orange)-Changed speedway aerokits from Honda car's (now use the same rear
bumper than short ovals with big winglets. The Indy500 aerokit, still the same
with little winglets and a little bit modificated bumpers)-Chevy cars rear
wing support, don't "over shining" more-Fixed ALL wrong placed Dallara logos
in nosecone of various cars-Fixed Mutual of Omaha logo on all Andretti's cars
(thanks Stex1973 for the logo)-Fixed the underside of Honda's RC front wing
that was mapped to the wrong texture-Fixed ZF logos on all Andretti cars
mirrors-Full skin pack (with helmets and driver suits)-Legs appears on cockpit
view-New steering wheels (3D & 2D)*-New rims 3D model (and new 2D texture more
"chrome" on OZ silver rims)-New sidepod of Honda RC Aerokit with correctaly
size of the lateral winglet-New tires textures (correctly now with 2016 logos)
-Optimized mod .mas file (deleted files from 2015 mod "lost" in mod .mas)

-Engine brake is editable again-Pit box skin for all cars (works only on track
compatible with it)
-Scaled oval Rear Wing on Honda Aerokits (Because : new rear bumpers)
-Re-made all the chrome effects of Hinchcliffe, Rahal and Townsend Bell cars
(more beautiful, still works only in DX9, in other DX, is very strange )
-Reworked screws in ALL 3d, now using less computer memory

PHYSICS
===============================================================================
Because the speedway and normal road physics are so different, there are two
sets of physics in the mod. Before you run F1C, you need to decide which to
use, since there is no way to automatically tell F1C which physics to use. If
you are going to race in a speedway or super-speedway, run "CART Speedway.bat".
This will enable speedway wings and physics. If you are going to race on a road
course, street course or short oval, use "CART Road Course.bat". If you're not
sure which physics you selected, the cars in the menu will indicate it by the
wings displayed. If you are running a championship and complete a road course
and want to move on to a speedway, make sure you exit the game and select the
appropriate physics before continuing your championship.


KNOWN BUGS
===============================================================================
-Mirros in TV Cam have a strange black figure in the center
-Physics are based on 98 CART physics from rF. Not perfect but work
-Pit crew overalls are all wrong, basic color sets included

FINAL NOTE
===============================================================================
If you notice that your car is driving funny even though the right setup file
has been loaded for the specific track, it's probably due to the wrong physics
being loaded. Make sure before running the game, you select the correct physics
BAT file before loading your circuit. If you are unsure which physics to load,
look at the GDB file in the SeasonData folder. Tracks with //SS (Super Speedway)
and //SW (Speedway) after their names must use the CART Speedway.bat physics.
All other circuits, including ones with //SO (Short Oval) must use the CART
Road Course.bat physics. You cannot switch the physics with the game running.
If you would like to swap physics, you must exit F1C and select the appropriate
BAT file. For more info, refer to the PHYSICS section in this README.

INSTALLATION

link updated and now working again. If you remember when I first released this in Race4Sim, Iowa and Birmingham circuits were not included. they are now added to the mod and the temp replacement circuits, Richmond and Laguna Seca, have been kept as bonus non championship circuits which can be selected in quick race, race or practice mods. the only thing left to do is add the 2015-2016 cars which will happen one day. Hey friends. Today I released a mega IndyCar Series Update, V2. This update contains all of Vitor Souza's recent work, from 2016 to 2019. It's so big that I decided to divide it into 4 packages:

Base Pack: Contains all necessary ICS mod files, physics and tracks base MAS files, along with 2018 cars and drivers
Expansion 2016: Contains all 2016 cars, drivers and tracks
Expansion 2017: Contains all 2017 cars, drivers and tracks
Expansion 2019: Contains all 2019 cars, drivers and tracks

In order for this to work properly, you'll need to remove my last V1 release since the directory structures have changed and it will conflict with this new release. All links and further explanations on first post.

Enjoy and all credit goes out to Vitor Souza for his amazing detailed work

Hi David,

I'm a huge IndyCar fan and have played the sh*t out of all the IndyCar mods that are available for rFactor as well as Champ Car Challenge for F1C. This is awesome, I definitely see I can make some improvements here and there in terms of physics and accurate .gdb files and these kind of 'small' things but this is awesome work, THANKS A LOT!

I do still have a little different question: I used to play the good old Independent Oval Racing 2002 mod for F1 2002 a lot in the past.

After my HD failed back in 2014 I had a fantastic backup ready that saved I think about 95% of my files, the IOR 2002 mod sadly wasn't one of them... That mod... Well, I can't find it anywhere and I see that you included tracks from the Independent Oval Racing 2002 mod in your IndyCar mods, so I assume you still have the original IOR 2002 mod for F1 2002 as well? If you do, would you mind to upload that for me and send me the link by PM? I would love to relive those childhood memories and play some F1 2002 with the IOR 2002 mod again.

Once again, thanks for this work, I considered to make this conversion one day too but now that you have done it.. Excellent job, I couldn't ask for anything more! (except the IOR 2002 mod, haha)

Hi schumacher180, glad to hear your enjoying the mod. Any updates or improvements you make to this mod, would you please be able to share them with me for me to include in the mod? I also have a CART 98 and Indy Car 94-95 mod in the works which will be released probably this week. Any help with improvements is much appreciated mate.

As for the IOR 2002 mod, I remember it really well. Unfortunately, I never installed it nor did I ever play it. The IOR tracks included where circuits I picked up during the years from many different sites. But the actual base IOR mod, I don’t have unfortunately. Really sorry I can’t help you mate.

Well, no problem. Maybe I should ask some of the TrackForum folks (the IndyCar community so to speak) for the IOR 2002 mod, as for the improvements... I can't tell you when I have time to really get on it but when I've made some improvements I'll of course share them with you.

As for the CART 1998 mod, that's cool, I released a CART 1998 mod back in 2013, it only had two bugs: long shadows and the steering wheel displays and cockpit dashes didn't work. I assume you're converting CART Factor, right? I'm curious.. I expect your mod to be even better than mine was despite my conversion was received really well and wasn't completely bug free so to speak. I think I ever promised you to send you my CART98 mod .gdb files as they have correct grid positions, mechanical failures, etc., I completely forgot about that (sorry) but to make up with you big time I've got this for you.

This in fact was the last mod I ever released.
