Re: Formula 2 from 1972
Guys, I think this was under discussion in the previous (Aerogi) Forum but one more time:
Crystal Park start number 6 - is it really Jabouille? In blue helmet? He allways used red one as I know (as well as Pescarolo green one)
Officially (http://www.formula2.net/F272_1.htm) number 6 had to be used by Patrick Depailler who is mentioned as DNA (did not arrive) but in one breath there is mentioned Jabouille with No. 6 as NC (not classified) using March 722/4.
In the book Patrick Depailler - Pursuivi par le Destin is mentioned No. 6 to Patrick with March 722/42 as "FORFAIT" (in french) what may be sometnihg like withdrawal.
So who is finally that pilot in white March with blue helmet? Patrick Depailler? What does mean DNA then?
Or is it J.P.Jabouille in borrowed helmet (Patrick's one?)?

Re: Formula 2 from 1972
"Forfait" means DNA, did not appear, not withdawal. So it is probably Jabouille anyway
Re: Formula 2 from 1972
Had a quick look through my Magazine archive and this would have also been the John Player British F2 championship round at Mallory Park, and the #6 is Jabouille in the John Coombs entered March. He qualified 6th, finished 9th in the first of the 2 50 lap heats but retired in the 2nd on lap 35 with engine. The Coombs drivers originally entered were Cevert and Depailler but Jabouille and Adrian Wilkins were the actual team that day. Wilkins was a DNS. A couple of relevant pages from Motor Sport Magazine;
