Re: Essential reference links for results and race numbers
I usually start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978_Formula_One_season
At the end of the page are links to the different years.
Each year has links to the various races that year. With results, grid positions, race numbers.
What I am missing is what type of car raced. I get to know that Ronnie raced in a Lotus in Argentine 1978 but not if it was a Type 78 or 79.

GP Argentina 1978
Mario Andretti Lotus78/R3
Mario Andretti Lotus78/R4 Spare Car
Ronnie Peterson Lotus78/R2
Hector Rebaque Lotus78/R1 Team Rebaque
Ronnie was driving the Lotus78 Chassis R2 until the belgian Grand Prix.
From Spain onward to the Grand Prix of the Netherlands Chassis R2 was Ronnies Spare Care.Than it was sold to the Team Rebaque.
In Italy Ronnie Peterson used Lotus78 Chassis R3 as Spare and unfortunenly as Race Car.
I hope thats the Information what you looking for.
