I could do that. For Australia, I more or less looked to the A1GP colours, there they also had green on gold instead of gold on green, and gave my own turn to it. I think that if something like this really existed now, as we have seen in A1GP before, countries would not simply go for the old national racing colours, and would instead do some other livery in national colours more linked to those in other sports, so the people who don't follow the history of the sport can more easily recognise them. So, in general I think my liveries will diverge from the the racing colours, but I could also do some kind of compromise, and for instance add more green to the Australian car.

Few years ago, I created a mod with sort of the same idea as you and A1GP had. I called it Nations Cup, and the 2007 & 2008 season - as far as I know - are still avaliable for download somewhere, and the 2010 season went down with racesimulations.com, only I have it now. The difference from A1GP was that in my mod teams had two cars, and were racing in two divisions. I can dig up some links for you (or can reupload) if you are interested.
