Re: Formula 1 pictures of 1966
Spence changed his number to the race (from #42 to #32), because Amon (#32) did not qualify. John Frankenheimer needed a car with #32 in the race, because he was making the 'Grand Prix' movie.formel1mic wrote:Thunder wrote:Not Amon, but Spence (Lotus).formel1mic wrote:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Hi thunder, my source ( book The Grand Prix Who's Who from Sterve Small)
said M.Spence drove the car with Nr.42, a Lotus 25 with BRM Motor,
what is wrong, what is right? I'm very uncertain !
best wishes
Motor Sport Magazine: "With no McLaren to drive, Chris Amon acquired a Brabham-B.R.M. V8 from M.G.M. and entered as a serious competitor, the film-making "circus" once more being back on the job after missing the Nurburgring. (...) With Amon a non-starter the film-makers were out of step so Spence took number 32 instead of 42 and dressed himself up to look like a film-star."

The engine was from a sportscar Ferrari I dont remember which one. The car was destroyed together with the Pearce-Martin in the burning of their transporter.
