New 1985 Race-by-race mod--done right

F1C 1985 Race-by-Race Mod by Neil (neiln1)—done right / September 2023

This new mod includes all the variations in cars and drivers for the 17 teams that qualified for at least one race in 1985, based on Pedro RippingCorpse’s Grand Prix 4 carset, which I’ve always thought was better modelled than the rFactor 1985 mod. I should acknowledge, at the same time, that I’ve used rFactor material for the backmarkers Pedro did not make. As with earlier seasons, I have  worked over Pedro’s cars to make the physical models and graphics as accurate as possible for each team and race. When I noticed a team using digital readouts, which was much more prevalent than in 1984, I incorporated them in the cockpits (see the screenshots). I’ve pretty much entirely replaced the work I did on tracks for 1981 by relying on the Track Megaupdate 1.02 1982-1996; I’ve edited some backgrounds that weren’t very attractive. As always, I have to emphasize that the artwork for the Campari Bridge at Monza is mine.

To make amends for my earlier hasty conversion of Pedro’s 1985 mod, every part of the cars (spindles, etc.) has been detached, as well as the driver bodies (so no more headless bodies in retired cars). This mod is intended to be a standalone; copy the folders over a clean installation of F1 Challenge '99-'02 (i.e., the original game with the Audio, Options, Save, and Seasondata folders removed). If you would like to add Jalnervion’s Special Effects 11.1 you can find the files necessary in the Circuits and Vehicles folders with the names “Joseterrain” and “JoseCmaps.”
