AI cars performance/order

hi everyone,

I'm currently playing DM's 1983 mod, and I'm having some issues with the other cars' relative performance - Stefan Johansson getting pole position by 2s, Theodores on the podium, Alfas winning races, stuff like that.

I have tried editing the rcd files and the cars' hdv files (mass, inertia, front & rear wing drag and lift, body drag), but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Has anyone else come across this unrealistic performance in the mod? Any ideas as to how I can address this?

Here are the .RCD files that I use for all seasons. File 01 is the best and file 26 is the worst. But on the wet track I reversed the order to make the game more unpredictable. But in general, both in qualifying and racing, cars follow this order almost always.

Of course, in the rest of the car configurations they are all the same. Same engine, same HDV, damage, gear_ratios, HeadPhysics.

Thanks I would like to have some differences in the hdv, if possible. I like to keep the mods untouched in terms of physics, but it seems that for this mod the order keeps staying weird even if I make the hdvs quite similar. Could it be down to tyre ini?

I always make a copy of HDV.file for the second driver in the team because it was big result difference in some teams. Remember  Piquet and Rebaque or Senna vs. Andretti.
in the reality there was a big gap between top 3 and the cars which drive on the last positions and they were overlapped  many times.
in the game overlapping doesnt work perfectly and top-drivers lose many seconds behind them.
It  made for me easy to  use this situation and drive through. I decided to make all driver with similar power , so 22-nd driver is loosing 1,5-1,8 sec  in the qualifying.  I know its wrong, but in the race it is also exciting to fight  against the drivers on the middle positions.
And the slowest cars will be overlapped max. 3 times.

I use:
the same RPM  in engine.ini.
Drag base the same for all
RCD Q Ability and Race abylity
1) 2.1
2) 2.3 -2.4
+ 0.3 for every next car.

If some driver is  still strong in qualifying I degrease  Drag Base to make him  a little slower.

in this case the minardi's drag base bigger than the williams'es, so, Williams is faster

Yep, that's what I meant. So if a driver/car is too fast, I need to increase the BodyDragBase to make them slower.

I meant increase to make the number bigger

Found the issue, I had to match drivers' names in rcd and veh files (remove the (1983) at the end)
