Hunt started in a 308C at Monza in 1975. Also used 308B in practice.Lee67 wrote:James HUNT started with it in GP of Italy '75 only.ondro wrote:Hesketh 308D - new design for 1975 built for 1976 rules without airbox, used in 2nd half of 1975 season

You seem to want to ignore all of the RELIABLE sources of information so let us forget it and agree to differ.

Re: Formula 1 pictures of 1976
I agree completely with Rob on this.
As I understand it. Hesketh sold the new 308C chassis at the end of 1975. And were then left with the older 308B cars. They converted them to the 1976 specs and called the "new" cars the 308D.
When you put the 308B and the 308D next to each other, you can clearly see the similarities.

"308/2 was rebuilt with the main radiators moved to the sides, and the oil radiators out at the back. This was formalised as 308B specification for 1975, with the addition of rubber cones replacing the outboard front springs. In this form, the 308Bs took Hunt to three second places in 1975, and finally gained the team's first Grand Prix win at the Dutch GP. One car was sold to Harry Stiller for Alan Jones to drive, and then on to Harald Ertl. When Hesketh ran out of money at the end of 1975, Horsley carried on, forming a team with private 308 owner Harald Ertl. The cars were modified to 308D form with coil springs all round again"

"Lord Hesketh had now run out of money, and had also discovered that he did not even own the team; Bubbles Horsley did! He pulled out and sold the 308C project to Frank Williams. Hunt moved to McLaren and the World Championship, and Horsley soldiered on with the original 308s. Williams acquired Postlethwaite with the 308C, plus an unfinished second car, and built up a third car during 1976. They were all entered as Williams FW05s, and their story will be continued under that heading. In later years, the original 308C was rebuilt back to Hesketh form, and is a regular in historic events."
