Temporada Argentina
Carlos Pairetti, the 1968 Turismo Carretera champion purchased a brand new Brabham BT23 and arranged with Frank Williams to run it. Testing the car in the evening when the firetruck had already left, a fuel line got loose and the car stopped far from the pits. Frank sent a mechanic who reconnected it, alas poorly. The car caught fire without any fire extinguisher to fight it. In the left picture, Pairetti in distress is comforted by Bordeu and Frank Williams.
Incredibly, the car was rebuilt in two weeks. Pairetti raced it at San Juan, then lent it to Cacho Fangio for the last race.

The start of the 1st race, Beltoise, Brambilla, Oliver, Vianini (better, retouched) and Adamich (at San Juan).
