Good news. New photos of the 1970, 1971 and 1976 seasons have appeared.

Working on the update for the Spanish GP this very familiar photo popped up. I think we all know the source too

It only occurred to me just now there is something very strange about this photo. It's the McLaren M19 (which was in the hands of Hulme under #9) carrying Peter Gethin's #10. I am 99,99% sure Mclaren had only 2 cars at Montjuic. The M19 for Hulme and the M14 for Gethin. And even if they had a third car that can't have been an M19 as there was only one M19 produced by McLaren at that time. I have never see any other photo ever of the M19 with #10 and haven't found any mention of Gethin using the M19 at any point during the weekend.
Do we have an explanation or were we fooled by the publisher from the start??

Yes, as you say (and as Mike Doodson specifically mentioned in his Spanish GP report in Motoring News) there was only one M19A in Spain. This appears to be a photo of Hulme's car with number 10 superimposed on the nose. The number font is unlike anything McLaren ever used and so is very suspect. The mechanic with the car is Ian Griffiths, who worked on Hulme's car in 1971. Okay, that's hardly definitive but it fits the theory.

I prepared this enlarged photo. The quality is very low, but I think we can see the top part of the number 9 which has been removed from the original image:Hulsebos Hans wrote:Working on the update for the Spanish GP this very familiar photo popped up. I think we all know the source too

Indeed! Evidence enough for me, which means the photo wil not return in RbR after my update. Thanks Thunder
